The Home offers high quality care and this is only possible with hard working, properly qualified management and staff who are well led, regularly appraised and adequately supported through training and supervision.

Training at The Firs
We view staff training as of crucial importance. Training ensures that staff are up to date and equipped with the very latest knowledge and techniques. Training also ensures that they are adequately supported and enabled to do their jobs well.
All new members of staff have a named mentor and undertake a programme of induction for a period of twelve weeks.
Mandatory training which is updated as part of every staff member’s development plan includes – manual handling, food and hygiene, infection control, health and safety, fire, medication, first aid.
